Happy Birthday to my amazing, dangerous and incredibly nasty Mom! You are the absolute best!
My Dad would have been 70 today. Almost 20 years ago he gave me a soccer ball and wrote "keep at it" on it. I love the simplicity of that. Keep doing what you love. Keep having fun, riding your bike, laughing, napping, fighting for what you believe in, fighting assholes, arguing with a smile on your face, reading, dancing, teaching and most importantly, loving and embracing the people in your life. Keep at it!
Happy 1st (with me anyway) national puppy day to this champ! Stay dirty Nina Pickles
Sometimes when you go digging around in buckets, you come up with a great Halloween costume...a week late. And then you fall off of the stairs, and end up locked in the neighbors yard. Please don't call me uncoordinated.
Meet Nina. Or Pickles. You can call her either, although she will probably respond to neither. I adopted her a couple of months ago from the San Francisco SPCA. She's about five years old and all paws and tongue. She has selective hearing and a grey chin, just like me.
Her first Warriors game! Everyone thought she did a great job, including the kids behind her and the guy next to her who bought her a beer.
My Dad passed away yesterday. He was at home, comfortable, lucid, and got to see so many of the people he loved before he went. This is my favorite picture of him. Just hanging out with his dog, calm, cool and not particularly concerned with the world around him. We are going to figure out a way to send him off right, where we can listen to some good music, and everyone can wear birkenstocks and socks and tell stories about his Larry David-ness. In the meantime, one of the things that I loved about my Dad was how he had his own relationship with so many of my friends- when people got to know him they seemed to enjoy his company more than mine :) If you have any nice or funny stories about him, we’d love to hear them. 2155 Cornell st. Palo Alto, CA 94306. Or, make him proud and don't go into work until noon tomorrow.
Happy Birthday to my amazing Mother, who babysits a couple of six year olds for an hour and this happens....
