Today’s aerial shots are from Nendrum Monastery on Mahee Island in Strangford Lough.
It’s a 5th Century monastery, and was excavated in the 1920s - the finds there are in the Ulster Museum, but I’d really recommend a trip to the site - it’s really beautiful there, as you can see.
I also went to St John’s Point today. My plan was to take some aerial video footage of the lighthouse, but the windspeed was just too high to risk it. This turned out nice though.
And here’s another shot of Inch Abbey, which gives you a good idea of the size and general layout of the monastery. #mavicpro
So this is Inch Abbey. It’s a ruined (obviously) monastic site just outside Downpatrick. It was built around 800AD, and was plundered a few times by Vikings, the rascals. #mavicpro
The Giant’s Ring. It’s a Neolithic henge monument just outside Belfast, dating back to around 2700BC (so that’s before the Pyramids, antiquity fans). #mavicpro#drones
