6 hour layover in Maui so I saw a lavender farm and petted some baby goats.
Hanalei bay. We get to wake up every morning for the next few weeks and (try to) surf here. 😍
The best banana is the 100 bananas you chop down from your own backyard banana tree.
(To harvest bananas, you chop down the entire tree! They ripen after you cut them down. Wait too long and the wild chickens fly up and eat 'em.)
Water drop fireworks all day.
Went on my first backpacking trip with @mscheminske. 11 miles to a hike-in beach on the Na Pali coast of Kauai. It was pretty ok. (Thx for the tip @sumul & Maudie!)
Got to spend all day yesterday with this cutie. 😍
Many many thanks to @blam, our gracious host in Honolulu this week.
One of my *favorite* things about staying with so many different friends in our travels has been getting a behind-the-scenes peak into their lives.
When our pal Josh Spear hosted us, we got a look at how much art plays an important role in his life, when we stayed with @mrmoneymustache and Simi Khambra, we got to play a made-up role-playing game with their son, and bike miles into town to get groceries (self-reliance!)
Even with Brian in San Francisco for some of our visit, his personality shone through in his apartment. Surfboards, surf magazines, and surf books were crammed into every corner. .
Many of you know Brian's most recent project, The Wirecutter, a website that exhaustively researches and identifies the best product for any circumstance -- so it should come as no surprise that his home is filled with meticulously chosen tools. I don't think I've ever used a blender so effective, or so loud. :)
