Working for a couple of hours at 5am doesn't feel so wonderful today, but sometimes that's the price of freedom, and I'll take that trade off happily. This is a page from most excellent @adamjk's forthcoming new book on creativity called @thingsarewhatyoumakeofthem and y'know what, they totally are
Had some fun splashing about a bit of gold dust today for some graphics for my super rad client @evolvesucceed, turns out gold dust can look quite a bit like poop powder if you don't get the colour quite right. Just sayin 💩 (it also looks pretty in purple though)
📆A day in the life:
7am-10am: work on said glittery graphics while still in bed
10am-12pm: head to local cafe. Chai, haloumi bfast burger thingie, more work
12-2pm: relocate to another cafe for more work because first one wouldn't let us sit near a power outlet and my laptop was low after working all morning already. Get annoyed at dudes having loud conversation at neighbouring table. Head home.
2-2.30pm: Stop off at pet store and get overly excited by sale items. Stock up on kitty food, litter, a water dispenser thingie and a new scratching post. Scratching post is demolished by cats within 5 minutes. Guess it was on sale for a reason. Least they had fun.
2.30-7.30pm: More work. Finish designing and building website, test for mobile, send it live, begin designing extra pages. Start falling asleep at keyboard, realise have been working for like 12 hours, put self to bed. The end. ▫️ ▫️ ▫️ ▫️ ▫️ #livingthelife#howyouglow#handsandhustle#risingtidesociety#creativepreneur#creativehappylife#createdtocreate#glitterguide#littlethingsinlife#communityovercompetition#risingtidesociety#tuesdaystogether

I've been considering giving up on Instagram since my hashtags have all been blocked somehow and therefore almost no one sees my posts anymore. So I sulked for a while, as you do, and now I've decided to go back to basics for a little bit and just.. play.
Holy fajoli! It’s been 2 months since I last posted because, guys, guys, guys, I’m totally booked out until the end of August. I’m not panicking you’re panicking. I’m kidding, it’s amazing. But if you want to work with me in SEPTEMBER, get in touch to get on the list (because that’s how we roll now, it seems), BOOM!
Here’s a list of things I’ve been doing that aren’t design work related:
+ Rearranging my bedroom and office & downsizing
+ Snuggling cats
+ Living out my ninja goth style dreams
+ Dyeing my hair purple.. and no long feeling like me, now considering changing it back
+ Learning to like red wine
+ Rereading Harry Potter
+ Adding lots of things to cart but never actually buying them
+ Forgetting to eat lunch
+ Mentally planning wall art
+ Getting heart eyes for winter sunshine
+ Becoming obsessed with wood crates
+ Watching Project Runway and deciding I now need to sew myself a whole new wardrobe (note: have never sewn clothes before)
Whatchu been up to?
Even when you're lucky enough to set your own hours, mondays can still suck. Here's a pineapple.
Things I love: ampersands & lavender. I currently have one of the above tattooed on me.. perhaps the other should go on my someday to tattoo list. Finding the PERFECT ampersand is a tough journey. This one is pretty sweet though - it's Playfair, font of choice on my own site and a gazillion others. Friendly, premium, pretty. Everything black always.
You are not your fkn khakis. Your brand is not your fkn logo.
Your brand is how you make people feel, what people think of you when they interact with you, how you talk, how you look, even how you dress. YOU are your brand. A logo is important, colour schemes are important, but they’re all just pieces of the whole puzzle. And to make those puzzle pieces fit together, you gotta see the full picture.
When I first start working with clients, I always send them my little brand visioning workbook, it helps both of us get on the same page.
Wanna get clear on your own big picture? Grab the free workbook for yourself and start to see how all your pieces can fit together.

So I'm a planning and organisation nerd. Yeah, big surprise huh. I like all the things to line up, look pretty, and be in their proper place. I also like systems and processes and procedures 🤓 ➕So what's an organisationaphile (that's a word, right?) gonna do when they realise something could be made waaaaaay simpler than it currently is? MAKE A WORKSHEET. Obvs. ➕Because the hardest part about putting together a new website isn't finding an awesome designer (clearly, you're already here! 😉), or even making the thing yourself if that's the way you roll. Nope, the hardest part is working out what goes where. Seriously. It's tricksy. It requires thought, planning, and maybe a little more organising than you might think! Grab my worksheet and get your website content sorted. ⚡️⚡️⚡️Link in profile⚡️⚡️⚡️
I was going to post this with some kind of relevant tie in to make you think about the value of design. But y'know what? My head hurts, one of the cats threw up on the couch this morning, I can't wait for the sun to go down so it both gets a little cooler and I can finally go to bed, and well, everything is urgh. D'you ever have one of those days when you just, can't even? Welcome to Wednesday.
So yeah. Make your shiz look good, because some days you'll need it to do the talking for you.
