Best tank crew 11/12 hits on target and childhood dream fulfilled
So proud to be a part of the #heavymetaltruants
It's a tough slog, 164 miles sounds like a lot and it doesn't really hit you until you're in it that this is happening.
Your body goes into an odd state of shock mixed with a desire to be at the finish line. But these men and women are who get you there. Legs will feel like they're on fire, you'll wonder just what possessed you to even agree to this madness and the aches you'll feel will last for days after the ride itself.
But I often return to thoughts of those we're raising money for. Children and teenagers who have faced more pain and suffering in their short lives than many of us have, and hopefully will, ever experience.
For me, my journey is over for another year, but theirs is not. It's for the support workers at @teenage_cancer who bring joy to the life of a child with terminal cancer that we ride. For the @nordoffrobbins musicians and therapists who unlock memories of dementia sufferers or bring solace to those suffering from mental health and terminal illnesses that we ride. For those who wait day and night at the end of the phone to be an ear for victims of abuse at #childline
I feel I speak for all Heavy Metal Truants when I say that they are the heroes of this story. We just wrote a new chapter.
And with your donations we'll keep making memories like this, just as they do.
