Ala' is an Arab female name, non-Arabs pronounce it as Allah as it is hard for them to pronounce the letters. The sentence tattooed is a phrase from the Qur'an holding this intricate name, and meaning "So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?" Calligraphy style is from a 325 year-old unique handwritten Qur'an. It's haram in Islam to be inked, however Ala' believes this is a challenge between her and Allah. 📸: @arab_ink An on-going photo-series exploring the stories and culture behind Arabic tattoos on an Arab generation.
