looking back down on the sierra nevada. no trip down the 395 is complete without a stop at the ancient bristlecone pine forest. 10,000 ft looking back down at the valley, chilly and utterly silent besides the wind.

a quick gas stop before taking off for the day. we awoke to snow falling in the mountains. the wind kept the system from progressing over us, so we were able to enjoy the scenery without dealing with the weather.

sunrise behind white mountains and clouds. arrived in bishop after dark after a ride down the 395 and a stop at wild willies hot spring. much warmer than around mammoth but we had to set up camp in 40 mph winds. went to bed to escape the wind. woke up to less wind but still managed to snap a tent pole striking camp. for consolation this was the morning view.

rode around tahoe, took the 395 south, hot springs by mammoth, camping in a windstorm by bishop. the east sierra nevada are not interesting or beautiful in any way.

the road from lillooet to pemberton. stunning views and 2 hours of curves on nearly empty roads. sadly, I wasn't able to enjoy it as much as I should've been. I pulled over as I got into lillooet to check my map, but didn't realize the paved shoulder was covered in very tiny gravel. both wheels locked the second I touched the brakes and it was so unexpected that I couldn't get myself to let go of the front. bikes goes down at 5-10 mph. all I injured was my left thumb and my pride. the impact ripped off the right mirror, along with part of the clamp that holds on the front brake lever. there was enough remaining I felt I could continue on, but at a gentler pace. found oem parts in vancouver and we're good to go again. #motorcycle #roadtrip #britishcolumbia #bc #canada #mountains #lakes #lillooet #getoutside #oopsdroppeditagain #moredentsandscratches
