Pit stop at Manchester By The Sea on the way back.

Hiked at the sand dunes trail at Crane Beach Ipswich over the weekend. Soft, fine sand throughout the trails. Some turns led to trails that are lined with huge pine trees, while others led out to vast flat land. Ended the hike at Crane Beach, and had a refreshing dip into the icy cold sea. #ipswich #cranebeach

The writer and philosopher Henry David Thoreau lived on the northern shore of the pond for two years starting in the summer of 1845. His account of the experience was recorded in Walden; or, Life in the Woods, and made the pond famous.
He details its unparalleled water quality; its clarity, color, and temperature; its unique animal life (aquatic, bird, and mammal); its rock formations and bed; and especially, its mirror-like surface properties.
