RACKWICK MOORLAND, HOY, ORKNEY | Wondering the Hoy moorland I notice a delightful plant which heads resemble tufts of cotton in appearance scattered along my path of travel. Being intrigued & after some research that revealed it to be Bog cotton or Cotton Grass, which grows on peat or acidic soils, in open wetland, moorland. A delightful sight swaying with the summer breeze & warm toned sunlight.

YESNABY CASTLE, SANDWICK | A two legged red sandstone sea stack, just south of the Brough of Bigging on the west coast of Orkney mainland. Surrounded by frequently boiling seas and the dramatic cliffs Yesnaby has to offer; you truly feel the power of nature while perched on the cliff side admiring the splendour that the sea stack basks in.

RACKWICK BAY, HOY | Nestled among the Hoy Hills is the wild Rackwick Bay.Ā Confined by 200m cliffs and steep heathery hills, Rackwick cradles a sand and boulder scattered beach, with a climate all of its own; Considered one of the most beautiful places in Orkney it certainly doesn't disappoint.

RACKWICK GLEN, HOY | the island of Hoy (high island in old Norse) is dominated by its high cliffs and hills boasting some of Great Britain's highest vertical cliffs. In between the hills nestles the valleys one of these Rackwick Glen; Wild flowers, lush green vegetation and heather covers the moorland, With sandy Loch and ponds which attracts an abundance of dragonflies, butterflies and other insects; that zip past as you wonder by the scattered remaining tree's of an ancient woodland that once covered the island. Great skua's can be heard and seen circling the skies above along with other costal birds as your greeted by Rackwick Bay.
