We are on our way to the cape! The epic road trip to the beach begins now and I can't stop thinking of a road trip 3 years ago that is burned in my memory forever! I sheepishly arrived in NJ by train and met strangers that I would then join on a 5 hour drive to @winsomeretreat By the time we got there my sides hurt from laughing so hard! Those gals were Kimberly and Elise from @circlesoffaith and recently I had the chance to join them on their podcast and share about the journey of finding Selah. The word that I've been studying and writing about all year. Come join the conversation- It's as close to being on a road trip with us as you can get! #slicesoflifepodcast#friendship#findingselahbook
Have I ever told you that I have the tiniest kitchen in existence? It's true! This space is smaller than any kitchen we had in NYC, tucked in the center of our Tudor cottage. I think it's size probably made many others pass this house on by. It almost made us walk away from calling it home too- but the neighborhood was just right, the yard was glorious, the price was perfect -so we took the leap. Now out of this teeny weeny corner, seven of us are fed around the table each night. There is enough here. More than enough. We won't live in this little rental forever, but you know what? I'm being changed by scooting around this kitchen, by the challenge of making room, and by finding rhythms of cooking side by side with my children that work no matter what. And truly, I'm thankful for the reminder that often the greatest gift of my days begins small.
I don't know a better man. Truly in awe of this one. That he chose me to be his wife (and still chooses me) and by the way he serves and loves and adores all our people. You light up all our hearts and I'm so thankful you are their daddy. // H A P P Y F A T H E R S D A Y
L A K E O S W E G O// Its something special to move to a new city and find the niche inside it that feels like home. We've spent the last 9 months exploring and on the hunt and we all keep coming back here to this little lakeside town. The amazing coincidence? This is the place where my parents married life began! #fullcircle#lifeinthewest#pnw#rooted
We are a little late to the party but determined to have fun developing our garden! Who knew @betterhomesandgardens had incredible plans like this to download? Stay tuned for more of the garden journey. #rooted
This boy was over the moon about his first time at the Air and Space Museum, and being able to test the flight simulator or this F-100 (the same plane flown by his great grandpa and namesake). We boarded The Spruce Goose and were so incredibly honored to talk and learn from veterans and thank them for their service. #memorialday#greatestgeneration#inawe#sprucegoose#harrygram
I watched these two at the lake a couple weeks ago with such delight. They were lost in their own little world, exploring, imagining., dreaming... and growing with such confidence at all they could accomplish on their in the great outdoors. Seeing them come into their own nearly made my heart burst. So many years invested in training their hearts, responding to needs, correcting, sharing beauty and book's and helping with math... it's all beginning to bear fruit in their lives and we are watching them flourish.
"And You are our letter, written in our hearts, known and read by all; being manifested that you are a letter of Christ, cared for by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone, but on tablets of human hearts"- 2 Corinthians 3:2-3.
The greatest words any of us will ever write is in the lives of those we disciple. What story are you writing in the hearts of your children? Talking all about it on the podcast today. Find us on iTunes: www.itunes.com/athomewithsally
It's the very first #firstname.lastname@example.org and I are so excited to help moms connect, share ideas, and be an encouragement at a time when everything feels so impersonal online. Want to join us? Each Monday we'll ask a question that connects to the topic of our podcast for the week. You can answer in your own Instagram post, and also tell us about yourself! Don't forget to tag us in your posts (@kristenkill and @sally.clarkson) and to use the hashtag #momheartmonday so that your friends can join in and so Sally and I can see your posts. This week's question:
What sustains you?
I guess I'll go first!
One thing that sustains me is constantly laughing with my kids. From knock knock jokes to riddles that don't make sense and everything in between, I just love seeing them giggle. This photo should tell you pretty fast which one of us currently needs a good laugh. 😂 I can't look at it without cracking up! So now is your turn! What sustains you in these crazy mom days?! #momheartmonday .
Also, our new podcast is live today! And spoiler alert: we giggle a lot. (Temporary link in profile)

And then, somehow she went from always in my arms to holding my hand and walking beside me, squealing over pink sunsets, to learning to read and ride a bike.... to traveling the world and so easily hopping on and off planes alone...and then my sweet baby girl turned 16. The sweetest years @hallejk!! You are so loved, and truly are blessed to be a blessing. Happy birthday!!!
Childhood in the west.
Waking up to this all week while I work on book edits and soak up some family time. Taking a giant exhale and just so thankful.
