Stoked with this morning's race. 🏃🏻Ran 2:47:15 for an almost four minute PB. Came in 16th overall and 3rd in age group. ☀️Beautiful morning running around Auckland's coastline; a little windy but nothing us Wellingtonians couldn't handle. Successful end to 2016 training after the disappointment of Hawkes Bay. As always, thanks to the organisers and amazing volunteers who make it all possible. 👏 #aucklandmarathon#raceday#running#marathon#instarunners
Photo from morning run commute, went up Mt Victoria for a hill challenge at the end. This is the view on the way back down overlooking Oriental Bay - the fountain was even going on this grey day.
Almost halfway through my training programme lending into the Auckland Marathon. Feeling really positive, nailed a couple of quicker tempo runs, but generally feeling pretty tired!
Recovery week next week with lower mileage, so the body has a chance to recover before the final push towards the taper.
Photo from Friday's sunny run commute. Wellington's harbour and skyline from the top of the cable car lookout, before the steep decent into the city. Finished week five of the 18 week countdown to the Auckland Marathon. Luckily next week is a recovery week after a tough few days that included wiping out along the Petone Esplanade. Still have the sore hands and knees to show for it. Slogged through my 10 miles at race pace today, headwind made for tough going. #marathontraining#aucklandmarathon#running#instarunners#sunrise#wellington
I've entered the Auckland Marathon on 30 October which I'm really looking forward to. So at the moment I'm just completing four base mileage weeks until I start another 18 week training cycle. My run commute this morning was a bit chilly and slow, but the winter weather so far has been remarkably good. Even saw another couple of runners along the Hutt motorway section which is very rare. #running#instarunners#wellington#marathontraining#aucklandmarathon
James playing in the wind.
Wine tasting and lunch at the Mission. Long weekend without kids is pretty awesome.
