Hawaii's rising housing costs match its rising homelessness. Rising homelessness means that people who were formerly properly housed are rendered without a roof over their heads. Proper City and State government could take measures necessary for regular, working people to have regular, working people dwellings in regular working people neighborhoods. But Kirk Caldwell is more interested in developments for billionaires and raising the cost of housing because that increases real property taxes which the City gets to use to pay their corporate patrons. The median cost of a house on Oahu in September was a record $750,000. With Caldwell's help, that will continue to rise. Welcome to the sidewalk.
