Originally constructed in 1916, NΓΈrreport Station in Copenhagen is Denmark's busiest station with approx. 350k commuters and passers-by bustling through it on a daily basis.

With a study of the needs of pedestrians and cyclists, it paved the way for the station's new design for its open and accessible urban space. Being awarded the Danish Lighting Award in 2016, lighting becomes a main feature of the station in the night with towers ventilating the underground platforms rising as luminous landmarks for the area.

Understanding and keeping in line with Copenhagen's identity as the world's best city for cyclists, the forecourt houses parking facilities for 2,100 bicycles known as the sunken 'bicycle beds' which are 40cm below the city floor to create a clear hierarchy between the space for bicycles and the area for city life. 🚲
