capturing cities, nature, and other things I love.
Most glaciers are admired from afar but if you're willing to kayak or canoe, you can hike through the ice caves within this particular one. .
The ice’s density absorbs all colors except blue, leaving a dreamlike hue that's visible from the outside and surreal to experience inside.
It’s no secret that glaciers are receding fast. Some even a mile a year. While these specific caves won't be around by next season, new ones will probably reveal themselves for those who opt for a closer look.
Those morning layers.
This skiff was our trusty way to and from land. The man operating it is the one you want to see after a day of hiking.
Officially, he's Captain Siggi, but you might as well call him Chef Siggi. Aside from the usual captain responsibilities, each night he prepared a ridiculously satisfying meal for all on board. [Part 4, June 2016]
I remember thinking, man, what if this doesn’t go well? We’re in a remote region of Iceland, hours away from any real medical help, and @mmkwock plans to jump off this arch. After some very unscientific tests to determine the depth (or, rather, the shallowness) of his landing, he just went for it. Major props to @mmkwock for being possibly the first person to leap off this arch. Check his account for more on jumping into the freezing water from high places. [June 2016]
When that midnight sun glows softly on the horizon for hours, the last thing you want to do is sleep. Beautiful light during our 6pm-6am hike around this nature reserve. [June 2016]
Thinking back to this time last year when I was aboard the @auroraarktika in the #westfjords of Iceland. What an adventure. Over the next few days, join me on a walk through the archives as I pull out a few of my favorite images from that experience. [June 2016]
Hard to beat catching up over two wheels.
Time to dust off those bikes.
It's all smiles when we find that powder. Throwback to last month's snow adventure with the TOFTS crew. #gopro
I don't care much for daylight savings but it's been a treat to be up before sunrise again.
