"Be in the magnificence of gratitude and wear it as a magical cape that moves you forward and protects you as you love and let yourself be loved.
Take a moment and bless this day you have been given as you read this…be grateful for eyes that see, ears that hear and for the body, mind and consciousness that is your ever present companion.
Dance the dance of love and celebrate you…" - @bobbykleinofficial#iching#sunset#bonifacio#corsica#wanderrun
“One whose mind is
one with the sky-void steps
into a spring mist
and thinks to herself she might
in fact step out of this world.”
- Saigyo (1118-1190)
While on a long stretch of calls to interview candidates for #SummitLA17, I shelled a big bowl of rose swirled beans for dinner. It was this simple act of doing two things at once that reminded me how much I love blurring the line between work + play.
This week, @YannRey + I rented a beautiful little apartment in Corsica. But we are not on holiday.
We rise without an alarm by 9am. I make @foursigmatic mushroom coffee with @bulletproof fats to wash down the buttery croissants in our mouths.
We work about 12 hours per day, taking a few breaks together. Each morning, we shop for food - it requires 4 different stores just to buy meats, bread, fresh fruit, veg, and almond butter. (I nearly gave up on almond butter. It's not something the Corsicans eat, which is funny because they've figured out 20 ways to pulverize meat into pâté but... not nuts). At sunset, we head to the beach for a long run and workout in the sand. We nibble on saucisson, chop up giant salads, and roast aubergine and yellow squash. And some nights just before it shuts, we visit the local artisanal ice cream parlor because #marketresearch.
This week has been a blissful reminder of why I love to blend work and play, particularly travel. To act like the world is your jungle gym and the places you go are like one monkey bar after another. And to love what you do so much that you can do it from anywhere.
I don't carry an apartment lease despite feeling a growing desire to settle and make a home somewhere (mostly for my @Vitamix). Perhaps it's not about having one home but being able to find consistency within yourself and your habits to make anywhere feel like home. And in spite of the challenges like a lack of green juice or local yoga studio, it's the art of adaptation that becomes addicting.
Because in between the emails and late night conference calls, it's those little moments of wanderlust that make life so inspiring -- like smiling to a stranger because I don't know their language or wondering if the dog in the alley understands French better than me. 🐶 "We travel, initially, to lose ourselves; and we travel, next, to find ourselves." - #picoiyer#corsica
