Unexpectedly ended up at an auction today. It was really fun, bought a half ton planter box from the city of Kenmore. But I really wish I had ended up with 1 of these 3 cars as well. Alas, they're way too unpractical for my current life, but damn would they have been sweet to swap out for the Honda Fit. When I don't need to haul a car seat around, remind me that amazing cars at affordableish prices are available at this auction.
Today, more than ever. What our backwards president did today is going to go in the history books as the day US stoped being the leader of the free world. Climate change is so real his Secretary of State and former CEO of Exxon urged him to stay in. So today, we join Syria and Nicaragua as the only countries in the world who haven't agreed to the #parisagreement. I have no idea how to explain this to my kid when he's older. I'm ashamed of my government.
Beautiful day for a family bike ride to the park.
When are 360 photos coming to the gram?
Beautiful day for an easy pace long run. The Bill Simmons podcast with Aziz Ansari is a must listen (lookin at you, @bru_knowz). I was cracking up during my run, pretty sure people thought I was a crazy person.
I have nothing but good things to say about @upstreammusicfest happening this weekend in Seattle. The last 2 days have been full of thoughts such as ... It's so nice to hang it in Pioneer Square at night and for it to not be a little sketchy or douchy ... I have 3 bands I'm dying to see in the next 45 minutes, how do I see them all? ... Seattle has always been pretty weed friendly, but that is the *only* thing I've smelled for the last 2 hours ... I really hope this festival sticks around for 20 years because it's awesome ... I really hope this festival stays a secret because it's really nice to walk around and not wait in long lines.
#Upstream is what Bumbershoot used to be, eclectic music across every genre. Some big names, but mostly full of talented bands who all deserve to break through. It's the city version of @doebayfest, a @sxsw inspired festival in our oldest neighborhood. A neighborhood that is full of brick and hidden underground rooms. It's had a rough go the last 15-20 years but thankfully its having a nice reemergence. Let's just not talk about the brothels that trump's grandpa built here 130 years ago.
Can we keep this festival a secret, ok?
Today was supposed to be my first full marathon. But, after a foot injury last month, I bumped down to the half and decided to kick the shit out of option B. // At the beginning of a big race, after the starting line music has died down, there is this clatter of feet. It always catches my ear. Thousands of people, most of whom are complete strangers, all navigating the adrenaline that comes with these things. Although I was running alone, I was thinking of all the people who were running with me. The support and love from my family. The competition and inspiration on my @nikerunning and @stravarun leaderboards that keep me going and push me harder. I took 9 minutes off my best time today and it's because of all of you. // If you asked me 6 months ago if that was possible, I would have told you no. I spent too many years burning the candle at both ends and hadn't felt the most confident in my health of late. I had just ran one of my worst half marathons and thought "this must be what hitting my mid-30s means". I hadn't trained well and it showed. But today, after a winter of my best training, I went hard from the gun, found a pack to join, relaxed, smiled and had a good time. Even ran some negative splits in the back half. I'm super proud of my 1:35:44.
