100/100 A self portrait to both end this project and begin a new sketchbook. ✨💯✨My third 100 Days Project is complete!! Each time I do this I discover new things about my work and my process. Here are a few of the things I learned this time:
1. Gosh, I really seem to love opera pink + blue + violet.
2. I found a process for looser painting that works well for me: start with large, bold, abstract marks and build from there. I won't judge myself if the first marks don't line up with the edges of the final image; in fact I kind of like it.✌️
3. Working in a sketchbook is still hard.
4. Not every image is a home run, and I truly hate some of them, and that's ok. Sketchbooks are for process, not product.
5. Gouache = good.
AND I've got an idea for next year's project. Looking forward to starting it in April of 2018! Until then, I've got this brand new sketchbook and many exciting projects to dig into. Thanks for following along, everyone! 🌼 #100daysofsketchbookfear#the100dayproject
96/100 Went to the Cylburn Arboretum today to paint the mansion. There was a wedding going on at the time, and @logic_lane and I sat on the grass and eavesdropped on the reception music. It was mostly a great selection of Motown, but also oddly included the theme song to Alvin & the Chipmunks. 🤔🐿🐿🐿 #the100dayproject#100daysofsketchbookfear
93/100 Accidentally spent the evening researching creepy antique dolls. I thought this would be nightmare fuel at first, but after sketching them for a bit I started to feel really affectionate towards them. Many of these were homemade, and each one was probably a treasured friend of a child way back when, even Pretty Voldemort in the upper left. They're worn and tired now, but they're still objects of love. ❤️ #100DaysOfSketchbookFear#the100dayproject
92/100 I'm not super patriotic (especially with the current administration), but I can definitely get behind a good barbecue and some sparklers in the backyard! Happy Fourth of July! 🎆🎇🎆🎇 #100DaysOfSketchbookFear#the100dayproject
In May I bought the One Second Every Day app, and June was the first full month that I got to use it. I really love how this app helps me to capture daily life in a way that feels significant, and I have a feeling that I'll be enjoying it for a very long time. Here's a peek at my June (minus the two days when I forgot to record something)! 🌼#1se#1secondeveryday
