My dad in Chu Lai, Vietnam, in 1968.
A few weeks ago my sister found this photo of my dad on the internet. We had never seen it before...he gave an interview to his high school for their Facebook page (he is not a man of the internet, has no fb account, etc.) He joined the Marines when he was 18, and after a year in Japan, ended up in southern Vietman from the end of 1967 through the Tet Offensive in early '68.
While I have tried to understand what it might have been like to drop myself into the middle of a war at age 18, I am not sure I ever will. I am so proud of my dad for his service and his courage.
Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there, and to mine who will probably not ever read this :)
Did the Dipsea trail solo yesterday from the steps in Mill Valley to Stinson beach. The best California pornography around.
When workaholics "take time off": "Gosh, wouldn't it be great to re-organize my books by color?"
Spent a night in this off-grid pod while exploring the California desert this weekend. Next time, there will be dirt bikes. Special thanks to @audi for the loaner car 😎
Looking for NYC nostalgia and maybe some stray liquid liner tips
The theme of 2017.
And the third year of making my wish for the following year in December. I am liking it so far.
This year's phrase comes from a very old friend, @adamcohini. I heard it at his wedding this summer and it made me smile.
I hope to take most of '17 off (last day at Google was Dec. 2) and am ready for any and all adventures, the weirder the better.
See you all next year. 😝
International Digital Nomad unofficial HQ. With fiber. And pool.
BLACK BY LOCHTE. 🤔
Open @strangerthingstv and find that the show starts on the exact day I was born. Perhaps THIS is the explanation I have been looking for...
Monday night with the after work crowd at Nopa. The wine producer, sitting behind me, slipped me this card. Jury is out on creepy vs. brilliant but I am leaning toward the latter. San Francisco: Farm-to-Table on, like, organic steroids.
Another GD Christo photo. At sunrise 😍
And as an aside, I don't think this could ever exist in the U.S. There were no waivers, no "sponsored by Verizon", no #brandstrategy, water bottles were 1 euro and most of the restaurants were closed instead of gouging the crowds. Probably part of why people love it so much.
