Many years ago in #Bagan before the country opened up.
No ATMs, no credit cards, not many airplanes or schedules either. All the tourism was controlled except for some young Americans traveling solo. We saw people cranking their cars and people plowing the land by hand — we talked to monks and nuns who complained about the government in hush tones. We ate tea leaf salad, which is not in the menu and the servers found it odd when we asked for it. It was amazing. It felt like going back in time 100 years.
We had no plans, no hotel, no money and no phone and we had a great time. #Myanmar#adventuretravel
